Fight or Flight

Can’t believe I experienced the worst of catcalling. I decided to order take out from City Works, a bar next to my place. When I went out of the side entrance of the building (near our garage door), I saw a car parked by the electric boxes of the apartment building next door and two boys (in their late teens or early twenties) urinating on the side of the building. Upon seeing me, they rushed back to their vehicle and one of them started to aggressively catcall me (making eye contact with me, calling me babe and making kissing noises at me), to the point of opening their car door in front of me and asking if I wanted a ride. I called him a “gross human being” then proceeded to ignore them but he kept on catcalling me while driving away. I thought it was all over when all of a sudden, the car backed up and opened their car door again and offered a ride to me. By then, I felt very unsafe. I proceeded to stare them down and then they drove away. I managed to take a photo of the car but unfortunately, it may have been too late as the plate number is indistinguishable.

It made me so mad how in my mind, I have a lot of scenarios playing out on what to say to them, but I’m sure most women must have done what I did right at that moment, freeze and give them the death stare. I really wish I could’ve taken a rock and threw it at their car or loudly tell them that they are as attractive as a bag of dickfarts. But no. My instincts told me to flee instead of fight. And I wanted so bad to fight. But I am wondering why I can never do it… I’ve seen worse things but still.
